MANILA, Philippines -- Police busted a purported prostitution den in Makati City, arresting 11 persons including two alleged pimps in an entrapment operation on Saturday night.’

Among those who were brought into custody were Jerome Santa Maria, 22, and Bonifacio Almera, 38. The two said they have been living at 2061 Edison Street, Barangay San Isidro, which police suspected to be a brothel.

Operatives of the Makati City police decided to raid the house after receiving a tip about the occupants’ activities, the case investigator, PO3 Carmelito Valiente.

After organizing a team for an entrapment operation, police proceeded to the alleged lair. One of the law enforcers posed as a client. Minutes later, Santa Maria allegedly offered the undercover cop the services of a woman in exchange for P2,500.

As the police officer handed the money, he signaled to his companions and busted the place. Authorities also took into custody nine women, all adults, police said.

Police are preparing appropriate charges against the suspects who remain in detention. --Miko L. Morelos, Philippine Daily Inquirer
